Gender Lens Investing for College and University Endowments
Across the nation, school boards and investment committees are debating the nature of their endowments. Increasingly, colleges and universities are exploring and implementing investment strategies that align endowment portfolios with their institutional missions and sustainability goals. Founded in 1956 to serve as Trustee of the Pew family charitable interests, Glenmede now serves more than 200 endowments and foundations and has emerged as a leader in impact investing.
We collaborated with Intentional Endowments Network and Catalyst at Large to publish a primer about the financial and social benefits of one particular impact strategy—gender lens investing, which combines financial analysis with gender-diverse characteristics.
The primer is intended to offer actionable ideas and data points to encourage discussion among investors, decision makers and constituents, and illustrates why colleges and universities are uniquely positioned to include gender lens investing in their endowments.
