Gordon Fowler Receives the Ken Heath Award
March 10th, 2017
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – March 10, 2017 – Glenmede, a privately held and independently owned investment and wealth management firm with $34 billion in assets under management, is pleased to announce that Gordon Fowler, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, has been named a recipient of the Ken Heath Award, recognizing executives who have championed the advancement of women in finance.
“I am greatly humbled by this honor,” said Fowler. “Gender diversity is part of Glenmede’s corporate fabric—more than 50% of our employees are women and for more than a decade, women have represented at least 30% of our Senior Management Committee. Today, that number is even more impactful, with women representing 55% of the Committee. We are committed to creating a workplace that empowers women, values gender diversification and supports the next generation of women leaders.”
Fowler has continued Glenmede’s legacy of emphasizing female leaders, which began in the 1950s with women serving on the firm’s board of directors. He has structured processes and practices to support a diverse workforce, including paid parental leave, paid time-off policies that allow employees to take care of sick dependents, and flexible work schedules for parents when they transition back into the workforce. Glenmede also sponsors programming with the Power of Professional Women and partners with Million Women Mentors, organizations that support the development of women.
The inaugural 2017 Ken Heath Award is named in honor of the longtime publisher of Traders Magazine, Ken Heath. The award was established to honor those men who have made a notable contribution to the advancement of women in finance. Heath was a proponent of women on Wall Street and recognizing their achievements and in 1999 created the Traders Magazine Wall Street Women Awards, A Celebration of Excellence, as a vehicle to promote diversity in a male-dominated field.
