Glenmede Appoints Benjamin Alimansky as Manager of Hedge Funds & Opportunistic Investment Strategies
Philadelphia, November 01, 2008
Glenmede announced that Benjamin Alimansky has joined Glenmede as First Vice-President, with responsibilities as Manager of Glenmede’s hedge funds and opportunistic investment strategies within the firm’s Manager Alliances Program. He reports directly to Gordon Fowler, Glenmede’s Chief Investment Officer.
“Ben has managed hedge funds and opportunistic investment strategies for major global organizations and has the analytical and risk management expertise to help our clients benefit from the return opportunities and heightened portfolio diversification that hedge funds can provide,” said Mr. Fowler.
He noted that Mr. Alimansky will join the team that oversees Glenmede’s Manager Alliances Program, which evaluates and monitors externally managed investment products that can be integrated into a complete asset allocation strategy.
Prior to joining Glenmede, Mr. Alimansky was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Brooklyn NY Holdings, where his responsibilities included managing hedge and non-hedge investments for a family office and charitable foundation. Previously, he held portfolio management positions at Olympia Capital Management, where he oversaw four major hedge fund styles, and DB Advisors (Deutsche Bank), where he helped manage proprietary assets. Before that, he headed Risk and Quantitative Analysis in the Hedge Fund Strategies Group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
According to Mr. Fowler, Mr. Alimansky’s hire reflects Glenmede’s commitment to continue to strengthen its investment management capabilities. “As many other financial organizations downsize in today’s difficult environment, we believe that this is an opportune time to augment our investment team with exceptionally talented individuals like Ben,” he said.
Mr. Alimansky earned his Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science at Columbia University.
He is a member of Greenwich Roundtable Education and Programming Committees and the International Association of Financial Engineers.
